Fort Payne Police and DeKalb County Deputies make drug arrest yesterday

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Yesterday (Thursday, May 4) the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit and the Fort Payne Police went to the Deerfield Apartments in Fort Payne to serve a felony arrest warrant. Agents went to the apartment but no one was at home. Agents knocked on nearby apartment doors to ask neighbors if they had seen anyone living in the Apartment.

While speaking to a neighbor at a nearby apartment, agents detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the apartment. Agents then obtained a search warrant, and found a large amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and money. Demarcus Lorenzo Warren, 22 of Fort Payne was arrested and charged with Unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Warren was transported to the Fort Payne City jail.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson said, “the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit and Fort Payne Police did a great job on being aware of their surroundings and to make this arrest possible.”
