Cherokee Co. Investigators find drugs while executing arrest warrants

CENTRE, Ala. — According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver: Sheriff’s Office investigators and deputies, along with members of the Alabama Regional Drug Task Force, executed distribution warrants at a residence on County Road 19 near Centre on Friday, February 3, 2018, and arrested three individuals.

Investigators were executing arrest warrants for Tracy R. Maxwell, 50, and Jamie L. Fox, 25, both of Centre for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

In the process of serving the warrants, deputies located more illegal drugs at the residence adding to the charges. In addition to the distribution warrants, Tracy Maxwell was charged with possession with intent to distribute, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Fox was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Another individual, James W. Maxwell, 62, also of Centre was also in possession of illegal drugs, possession with intent to distribute, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Investigators seized several types of illegal drugs and firearms from the scene. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is assisting in the investigation.

Deputies transported all three suspects to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
