FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to the District Attorney's Office: District Attorney Mike O’Dell announces that his office has successfully concluded the prosecution of drug trafficker and habitual felony offender Candala Bridgett “Candy” Adams, age 41 of Leesburg.

Circuit Judge Randall Cole revoked Adams’s probation in a drug trafficking case from 2012.  Adams was arrested on March 30 of that year after she was found in possession of a large quantity of oxycodone, a dangerous controlled substance.

Deputy District Attorney Scott Lloyd prosecuted the revocation proceeding. Judge Cole found that the evidence in that hearing proved that Adams had committed the offenses of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance in Etowah County and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card in Cherokee County while she was on probation.

Adams will be required to serve the remainder of her 15-year sentence behind bars.

Deputy D.A. Lloyd argued at the hearing that Adams is “utterly incorrigible,” and “a menace to the community,” pointing out that she has at least 37 felony convictions, is a drug trafficker, and has had chance after chance at rehabilitation.

Lloyd added, “This defendant has committed felonies in both DeKalb and Cherokee Counties and has needed to go to prison for years. We have been asserting that position for a long time now, and it’s a relief to finally see her headed where she needs to be.”
