Fort Payne burglary suspect arrested in Etowah County

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — DeKalb County Sheriff’s Investigators has had an ongoing investigation on Joseph Wayne Willis, 31 of Fort Payne for the burglary that occurred on County Road 270 in Fort Payne back in June. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has a warrant for Willis for this burglary.

When Etowah County Sheriff’s Office learned of the warrant they contacted the DeKalb County Investigators to let them know that they had arrested Willis on unrelated charges and a hold was put on Willis for his extradition to the DeKalb County Detention Center at a later date.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson said, “this is a good example of how our Deputies and Investigators work diligently with surrounding Counties to solve cases and thanks to Etowah County for being observant on the warrant and calling us about Willis.”
