Timmons named Interim Superintendent for DeKalb

RAINSVILLE, Ala.-- At a special called meeting on May 17, Scott Timmons was appointed as Interim Superintendent for the DeKalb County Board of Education.  

Timmons will begin his position as Interim Superintendent on June 9, 2021. 

Timmons, a native of Rainsville will receive his regular monthly pay as Instructional Supervisor at the Central Office with a supplement being provided for serving as Interim Superintendent. 

Scott TImmons is a native of Rainsville.  He graduated from Plainview and continued his education at Jacksonville State University.  He previously served as the Principal of Henagar before being transferred to Instructional Supervisor. 

“I am humbled by the opportunity, I look forward to working with the Board'' stated Scott Timmons. “ I know my role, as Interim Superintendent,  is to make way for the transition period between Dr Barnett and whoever they select as the new Superintendent.”

In other business:

  • Adam Amos was placed as the Agribusiness Teacher at Crossville High School
  • A revision/correction was made on the placement of Scott Timmons as Instructional Supervisor from 6/1/21 to effective immediately

The next meeting of the DeKalb County Board of Education will be held on May 27 with a work session being held at 4:30 and a regular session beginning at 5.
