RAINSVILLE, Ala. — On Sunday, October 4, DeKalb County lost a local radio icon and all-around wonderful person, Doris Ella Hobbs.

Hobbs served as a sales manager and later general manager for WZOB Radio in Fort Payne for over 30 years.

Hobbs was involved as a board member in the United Givers Fund, an active member of Fort Payne First Presbyterian Church, and countless other community activities, boards, and clubs.

Her coverage of political elections spanned her entire career and in her more than 30-year career in media, she only missed one single election.

She was a straight-shooter, a friend, a helper, and an inspiration to those around her. She will be sorely missed as a voice in this community.

Here are her full arrangements, courtesy of W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville:

Mrs. Doris Ella Hobbs, age 72, of Rainsville, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from W.T.
