Rainsville Chamber a Hub of Information

The Rainsville Chamber of Commerce wants everything that has anything to do with Rainsville to continually get better and better. Above all, we are dedicated to the betterment of the entire Rainsville community.

Opinions can be all over the map in regard to what it means for a community to get better and better, but I would venture to say that good citizens in communities everywhere share a similar dedication in one way or another.

We are frequently reminded that a good number of people don’t know who or what our chamber of commerce is, and what it can do to help improve things.

I am glad you asked.

In regard to who our chamber is, it has a staff of two, about 150 dues-paying member businesses, a 15-person volunteer board of directors chosen from among the members, and a few other volunteers who support its programs and activities from time to time in various ways.

In regard to what our chamber is and what it does to help improve things, you can break it down into three categories.

First is business advocacy. Our chamber serves as a business advocate because the business community’s prosperity is the underpinning that almost everything else that has anything to do with the community’s heritage and civic pride–schools, youth sports, police and fire protection, street maintenance, green space, etc–relies upon.

Second, our chamber serves as a catalyst for community action. We carry out many activities that are of our own concoction including a scholarship program, Christmas at the Crossroads, Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon, etc. We also actively support countless activities concocted by others (expos, 5Ks, concerts, etc).

Third, our chamber serves as a clearinghouse of information about everything that has anything to do with Rainsville. The information superhighway has turned the Chamber “hotline” into the last resort more often than the first, but, at the same time, it also provides the opportunity for us to market the city to the world via both a chamber and a community website.

Our Chamber is certainly not the only advocate, catalyst, or information clearinghouse in the area. But, it is an important collaborator in the quest to attract tourists, new residents and business ventures.
We would appreciate your support of our efforts, and we are always open to, and in need of, ideas.
