Rainsville Approves Sidewalk Project

RAINSVILLE, Ala.-- (Full video on Southern Torch Facebook) The Rainsville City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 18. 

Adam Lea, with Ladd Engineering, addressed the Council regarding the sidewalk project from Rainsville Foodland to Cornerstone Christian Academy.  

Due to a turn lane at the North Alabama Agribusiness Center and Cornerstone Christian Academy, the project will be amended as needed.  Plans will be approved up to the turn lane and the design should be completed by the end of the year.  

According to Lea, this will be an 80/20 cost with the State.

The Council approved Resolution 07-18-2022 A  which will surplus a 2018 Mahindra Tractor. 

Resolution 07-18-2022 B, which will grant retirees and beneficiaries a one-time pay raise,  was also approved by the Council. 

In other business, the Council approved the following: 

  • Travel/Training Request was approved for Sam Young/Fire Dept
  • Lettering for New Fire Truck by Accel Graphics in the amount of  $4775.00 
  • $500.00 Sponsorship—Alabama Fighting Championship

The next regular Council Meeting will be held on August 1, 2022
