RAINSVILLE, Ala.— Northeast Alabama Community College is well-known for its theatre and the productions directed by Mark Webb. Tonight is opening night for the newest production “Nunsense.” The award-winning production originally written by Dan Goggins will be running for 6 nights: Nov. 6-8 and again Nov. 13-15. Tickets will be on sale at the event for $5.

“Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of  “Grease,” actress Allison Dixon said.

One thing that will be different about this production is that the cast is much smaller. The nuns in the play will be portrayed by students Allison Dixon, Katie Strickland, Emilee Harris, Kayleigh Smith, and Savannah Owens. “It’s a lot easier in my opinion. With a smaller cast you’re able to have a tight knit connection. You don’t have to worry about coordinating huge groups of people either. It’s just easier to add more detail to a show and a character when there’s a small number of cast member,” Dixon said. “The chemistry of the cast and crew is also a lot different in this production than in past ones. We’re always having fun and encouraging each other and giving each other new ideas to develop our characters and the production as a well.” Be sure to come support the Northeast Alabama theatre program.
