POWELL, Ala. — Last month, members of the Atlanta-based FEMA Region 4 Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) visited Northeast Alabama Community College to participate in a readiness exercise ahead of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane season.

During the two-day exercise, team members evaluated their level of disaster-response readiness and ability to properly utilize all individually and team-issued equipment ranging from laptops and satellite phones to iPads and cell phones.

“FEMA is so important in time of crisis and we certainly have benefited from their work in our area with the weather issues that we have had in recent years,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “We are very pleased to be able to host them for their training.”

NACC serves as the Division E Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the Alabama Emergency Management Agency.
