FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Mrs. Elaine Lands, a Fort Payne resident, recently contacted DeKalb County Schools athletic director Keith Atchley and informed him that she wished to make a donation. Mrs. Land’s husband, Harry Lands, a former educator and avid golfer, had collected several sets of clubs over the years. She decided to honor his memory and his love for golf by helping area students.

Keith Atchley, Athletic Director at DeKalb County Schools stated of the donation: “Elaine Lands informed me that she had several sets of clubs and that she wanted to donate them to schools in our area that have golf teams. She related that her late husband, Harry Lands would buy sets of clubs and look for young people just beginning to play and give them away."

"I was delighted to pass the supplies on to Coach Jeremy Smith at Geraldine High School and coaches Ben and Karen Pickett at Sylvania High School. This act of generosity was amazing and I would love to see Mrs. Lands recognized!” Added Atchley.
