COLLINSVILLE, Ala.— Nights will soon be a lot brighter in downtown Collinsville. On Thursday July 14 at 7 p.m., the Collinsville Historical Association will host a ceremony to mark the official lighting of the newly restored marquee sign at the historic Cricket Theatre in Collinsville.

The event will feature live entertainment, including a special performance from the "Little Collinsville Rockettes," a troupe that includes dancers from ages 3 to 11 years old, directed by Madison Chamblee from Auburn University and Allie Wills Jones, a teacher at Collinsville High School. The performance will be followed by brief remarks from members of the theatre's founding family and community leaders.

The free event is open to the public and commemorative medallions will be presented to the first 200 attendees. Traditional concessions in keeping with the Theatre's original 1946 grand opening, including glass-bottle Coca-Cola and movie-theatre popcorn, will be served.
