Council on Aging to host Community Health Fair

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — On Wednesday, October 2, the DeKalb County Council on Aging will host its annual Community Health Fair beginning at 8:30am. The event is free and open to the public. 

The health fair is for DeKalb County residents ages 60 and older. The event will include: vendors, lunch, door prizes, a costume contest, music and plenty of fun!

“We are very excited about this week’s Health Fair. It is a free event that is open to the be public,” said Emily McCamy, the Director of the DeKalb County Council on Aging. “We are preparing to feed 300 attendees a delicious lunch with ice cream. We currently have 55 vendors that plan to attend including caregiver assistance agencies, safety agencies, physical therapy companies, home health agencies, hospice companies, and over 20 other service agencies. Walgreens will be giving flu shots. Free services will include vision screenings (Lions Club), blood pressure checks (Crossville Health & Rehab), and cholesterol and blood sugar checks (ABC Hospice).”

EMA will be there to help people sign up for DeKalb Alert.  The Sheriff’s office will be there to help people sign up for the Yellow Dot Program.
