COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — The City of Collinsville will be having a fireworks display on Monday, September 5, Labor Day, at 9:00 pm. The show will take place at the park on the corner of Highway 68 and Grand Avenue. Admission is free.

According to Collinsville Town Clerk Peggy Wright, there were complications that led to the display, usually held on the 4th of July, to be moved to Labor Day instead.

She also expressed the belief that there might be a larger crowd on hand, since some people choose to go out of town for the Independence Day holiday, as well as there being other fireworks shows elsewhere at that time.

When asked, she explained, “We’re not sure if it would continue being on Labor Day from now on, we may change it back to the 4th of July next year.”

While the long days of summer may be winding down, and the leaves prepare to change color for yet another fall season, there is still plenty to do before the temperature falls too much.

Collinsville and their fireworks show on Labor Day night promises not only to be an exciting outing for the family, but also a way to send summer out with a bang, literally.
