DEKALB COUNTY, Ala.--  Beyond the Call of Duty is a motorcycle group that honors fallen Law Enforcement Officers.

This year, the group is honoring 608 men and women who passed in 2021.

The group made a stop at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday,  to honor Lt. Jeff Bain.  They then went on to the Town of  Ider, to honor Chief Buddy Crabtree.

The goal of Beyond the Call of Duty is to show the families of fallen heroes how much they are loved and valued.  The group does this by placing their names and pictures on a trailer and traveling across the United States to honor them.

“We certainly appreciate all that these men and women do to show the families of our fallen heroes just how much they are loved and valued. Having them here was so bittersweet and humbling.  We pray they have safe travels as they go on their way, showing other families just how valued their loved ones are.” - DeKalb County Sherrif’s Office

It was such a blessing to see Chief Buddy Crabtree being honored by the BCD.  They are such sweet people who donated their time to travel all over the USA to honor our heroes! It was very touching for the family.  May God bless them and all the families they will encounter.-Ider Mayor, Wendy Hammonds Lassetter
